Letter from our President & CEO
Mainers take care of each other.
To Our Customers, Friends, and Neighbors,
Since 1852, Bath Savings Institution has been here for our neighbors in good times and in challenging times. We’ve celebrated many happy events, and we’ve also endured difficulties — the Civil War, the Great Depression, two world wars, 9/11 and many other tragic and tumultuous periods. Over the past 168 years, we have prevailed through difficult times together because Mainers don’t panic — we take care of each other!
As we face this current pandemic, the health and well-being of our employees, our customers, and our communities remain our top priority.
We are caring for our employees by adhering to CDC guidelines and following appropriate social distancing. We remain open for business in all nine locations but have closed our lobbies to protect both employees and customers. We understand the hardship families have when school and day-care facilities close. We have extended new benefits to assist our employees faced with challenges at home so that they can be with their children or care for loved ones during these uncertain times. Additionally, we have reviewed our sick-day policy to ensure employees feel secure to stay home if they’re not feeling well. Our employees work tirelessly for our customers and for the bank. It is vital that the bank is there for them when they need it most.
We are caring for our customers who need support and assistance. Our commercial team is working with our business customers to help them through the extreme slowdown of economic activity. We also are working with consumers to help refinance loans and offering payment relief to those who have lost jobs due to the pandemic. More importantly our branch employees are reaching out to our senior customers to make sure they are well cared for and receive important social interaction. The coming weeks and months will likely not be easy, but it is in times like these that the decision to work with a bank like Bath Savings will pay off.
We are caring for our communities by offering financial support to local food pantries and other organizations that are helping residents. Our restaurants have been amazing, and we are placing large orders with them every Friday and treating our employees to lunch. Employees are also sending “brighten your day” cards to area senior centers that are not accepting guests. Community nonprofits we partner with are critical during times like these, and we are here for them, too.
We are caring for your deposits. Bath Savings continues to be one of the strongest and safest financial institutions in the state of Maine. Our drive-through and ATM networks are open, and we are sanitizing touch points often! We offer online and mobile banking and have made it possible for any mobile banking customer to remotely deposit checks through their mobile device. We also provide convenient access to your funds with our debit cards. If you would like to sign up for any of these services, please contact us at 1-800-447-4559. Your deposits are insured, and since 1933, no depositor has ever lost any insured deposits in this country. More importantly, you can trust that we are taking care of your funds and will ensure you have access to them when you need them. Remember, the safest place for your cash is in the bank!
A special thank you. One group needs special thanks for taking care of all of us. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to all the medical professionals in our community and our state. They are taking care of our friends and neighbors each and every day, and we appreciate their efforts.
These are not easy times. But we will get through this current crisis just as we’ve prevailed through the many challenges we’ve faced together over the years. Mainers don’t panic, we take care of each other.
