A Message From Our President, Glenn Hutchinson
Next month Bath Savings will celebrate its 170th anniversary, and since 1852 Bath Savings Institution (BSI) has supported our neighbors in good times and in challenging times. Since we started serving the banking needs of our community, we’ve seen a civil war, the Great Depression, two world wars, 9/11, a global pandemic, and many other tragic and tumultuous events. As we watch the situation unfolding in Europe, we want to assure you that your funds are safe and secure at BSI.
Bath Savings Institution is among the safest banking organizations in the country. In fact, the bank has once again earned the top 5-Star Superior rating from Bauer Financial – a distinction that can be claimed by fewer than 10% of the nation’s banks. Your deposits are insured by the FDIC and since its inception in 1933, no depositor has ever lost any insured deposits in this country. More importantly, you can trust that we are taking care of your funds and will ensure you have access to them when you need them.
The safest place to keep your money is the bank; your deposits are protected up to $250,000 with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC). Once funds are withdrawn, they are no longer insured, so avoid withdrawing large amounts of cash.
Bath Savings continually monitors cybersecurity threats and works with numerous agencies to receive real-time reports on the rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape. We utilize high-level security initiatives, and have many safeguards in place to protect your personal information from unauthorized disclosure. We provide 24-hour surveillance and real-time reporting to proactively monitor your accounts day and night. If any suspicious activity is detected, you will be notified immediately.
As always, we encourage you to be vigilant in protecting your privacy. Choose complex passwords and change them often. Never open attachments or click on links from unknown sources. Never respond to requests for your social security or account numbers. And if you have questions about an email or phone call you received regarding your financial information – we’re here to help: 1-800-447-4559 or bsi@bathsavings.bank.
As we – along with the rest of world – continue to watch the tragic situation in Europe unfold, our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine, their families, loved ones, and all those with connections to the region.
Please know that we are always here for you – our customers and community – just as we have been for the last 170 years.
Sincerely,
Glenn L. Hutchinson, President & CEO
